How to have a Quarantine birthday!
“How to have a quarantine birthday” is not meant to be a theme, but more of a current events how to guide.
It’s a very weird time as I write this post. Did not ever think I would be writing a blog post with this title. But here we are-The Quarantine of 2020 has affected every.single.person. Sacrifices have been made by so many. Then the question, “To have a Birthday Party or postpone?” Short of having a hazmat suit for every kid… definitely would be a theme to remember, lol! Very hard and tearful choices are being made. So, I sat down with pen and paper to create a list of ideas you can do to still celebrate during quarantine. Hoping it helps mommas!
BALLOON THE ROOM:
This takes a little planing the night before, but you can buy/order the helium tanks at so many places if you don’t want to risk going out to your local stores to purchase. Pick out the birthday kids favorite color or colors and sneak them into their room early in the morning so they wake up to a bedroom celling filled with balloons.
Extra credit: If you have extra time you can even ask their friends to email you notes or pictures you can tie to the ends of the balloons!
SAVE THE DATE:
So we can’t go to the places yet… But you can create a “Fun With Friend” save the date gift. As many of you know so many local business are going to be hugely impacted by this quarantine.
Extra credit: If you have the extra time, or want to keep a sibling busy, you could wrap several gift cards to kids favorite hang out spot in a box inside a box inside a box…style! The continuous gift! This doesn’t have to big big ticket items either.
Movie tickets
Jump place
Fun Food class
Dinner at your favorite place
Slumber Party for 2 or more!
Nails for you and a friend
Pottery for 2 or more!
Those are just a few ideas, but the list is long of ideas and it’s a win win because your helping the little guys stay open!
CHALK MY WALK:
Host a chalk my walk party.
Invite friends and family to drop by and chalk your walk or driveway!
Extra credit: If you have the time to you can Print out the above invite and add chalk. Drop off at friends house a couple of days prior.
MAKE A BIRTHDAY WISH AND RELEASE:
Someone else is likely to have the same birthday as your child. Have your family write messages on the outside of a balloon and release them- thus teaching joy in the midst of what might feel a little joy-less. Maybe they would receive your balloon with a special note or wish for them on their Birthday!
I hope that your little sweetheart does have the BEST quarantine birthday and I hope these ideas at the very least inspired some out of the box thinking!!
I have a feeling there maybe a part 2 to this post?!? But I hope not!
