Quarantine Parties...Round 2

April and May are big celebration months with Birthdays and Graduation parties. As I am writing this we are experiencing the weirdest time in history. Quarantine, a shelter at home order that is affecting us all in ways that is hard to explain. We are doing our best to keep ourselves from totally losing our…stuff! Because of that I think we are experiencing a greater appreciation for all ways of celebrating, not only in our close friend groups, but as a whole community.

Crate Party was created to bring joy into party planning, to simplify the pinterest worthy party process for you. Sadly, I have not been able to offer parties at this time. However, I’d like to share with you more ideas of ways to celebrate your kids, their friends and your friends-while in Quarantine.

A PARADE FIT FOR A QUARAN-KING OR QUEEN

Have you seen or been a part of a drive by Birthday Party Parade? I cannot tell you how fun it was to participate this month with my kids! We were able to make a banner for the birthday girl and spent hours on this homemade creation. It was so much fun! With a little time to prepare, there are a couple extras ideas that you can put together for friends that you want to celebrate. Decorate your car with streamers and special window paint. Have confetti poppers, bubbles and noise makers ready to go! Dress up in funny hats, capes or feather boas. You and your kids will smile for days after because we are made to connect and celebrate with each other!

SPECIAL DELIVERY BOX

Gather notes, letters, handmade cards, pictures from friends and family ahead of time and create a special delivery box of sunshine to your special kiddo. Add their favorite treats, snacks, noise makers and party poppers. You can also add clues for the party kiddo to guess some things you have planned for their special day.

ZOOM GAME NIGHT

Thankful for technology these days, aren’t you. You can host a Zoom game night for your kids and their friends or family. There are a few different online game sights that you can stream and share your screen with Zoom if you are just a little tech savvy. OR you can deliver or email some game cards ahead of time with games like Pictionary or Charades! The best part about those two games options are they are easily found for free online!

decorating challenge

You can host a decorating challenge online with a Zoom or Google chat with friends! DIY your own cupcake decorating kits with sprinkles and prepackaged frosting and deliver ahead of time. Or there are some local bakers that are offering cookie decorating kits that make it super easy for you, plus your supporting local business! Enjoy decorating with friends, sing happy birthday to the birthday kiddo and enjoy your treat together!

outdoor movie theater

It’s Spring!!! You can put together your own outdoor movie night in so many ways! I bet you have a small inflatable pool or air mattress that you can fill with pillows and blankets! Crate Party offers a 17 foot inflatable screen and smart projector that is awesome for the ultimate outdoor theater. But you can DIY one if you have a projector, a large white sheet and bungee cords.

Glow in the dark dance party

Easy and fun! Bust out the karaoke machine, grab glow sticks, blow up some glow in the dark balloons and turn the music up! Sure to be a crowd pleaser and super easy too!

birthday treasure hunt

My kids love a good treasure hunt, do yours? Since it’s Spring you can set up a hunt using the whole neighborhood. If friends are available (while maintaining social distancing rules…of course) to be out on their driveway during the hunt, they could even help by sharing a clue along the way.

I hope that these ideas help inspire new ways to celebrate during the craziness!
